Wie bekommen Benutzer:innen in Projekten mit Kennungsimport eine Zweitkennung?

In projects with LMU account import, the master users can no longer create new personal LRZ accounts, but "import" the LMU user ID from the LMU directory service into their own LRZ project via the LRZ IDM portal.

If a person works at two LMU institutions, e.g. as a

  • Secretary on 2 faculties/2 chairs
  • Research assistant in 2 research projects
  • Student assistant at 2 chairs

then they may need a second e-mail address with a faculty domain.

Instead of a second account, there are often the following simple solutions:

  • Student assistants often do not need a mail address with the mail domain of the institution where they work on an hourly basis, the @campus.lmu.de mail address will be sufficient. Then the master users do not have to edit their account at all.
  • Secretarial addresses can be created as function accounts with Shared Mailboxes in the LRZ IDM portal as before.

NEW: An additional mail address with a different faculty mail domain is possible if the account is converted to →Exchange for lmu.de or has already been converted. This is done in two steps:

  1. The master users "export" the account from the previous project. The Exchange mailbox with all mail addresses (lmu.de and addresses with faculty domains) remains the same.
  2. The master users of the second project can now "import" the account and give it the additional faculty mail address.

When exporting an account from a project, please bear in mind that the account also loses the right to access the Institutional Cloud Storage - Area (NAS-drive) because the account is then removed from the permission group of the project.  It also loses any existing permission for the project's institutional VPN.

If it is clear that another LMU account is actually needed in addition to an existing LMU account already imported into an LRZ project (e.g. for special LRZ services such as VMware, Compute Cloud or Linux Cluster), the following option is available:

  • Via the LMU Helpdesk Tool, authorised persons (usually members of the local IT Operations Team) can create further LMU accounts ("Immediate User IDs"), so that in these cases the person has two personal accounts managed by the LMU.

The path via the LMU Helpdesk Tool or the IT Operations Team can also be used for groups of people who typically do not yet have an ID in the LMU directory service, see How do honorary employees, service providers or other guests get an account in projects with account import?
