Initial situation

Munich is home to 2 of the largest German (elite) universities. This means that research at the highest international level takes place here on a large scale. The demands on the research infrastructure are correspondingly high. By providing current technologies for the representation of huge amounts of data in very high resolution, the scientific knowledge gain for research can be accelerated and deepened. In the CAVE, three-dimensional navigation and interactive examination with various input devices improves the understanding of data and relationships, or in some cases makes it possible at all. If required, the scientists are also actively supported by members of the V2C team in using the required infrastructure.
In the following some successful research projects are presented as examples, which would not have been feasible without V2C and its equipment, but which also reflect the enormous scientific range of the research work.
