Wozu setze ich ein "vorzeitiges Ablaufdatum" bei Kennungen?

LRZ accounts and their permissions for LRZ services are valid by default until the end of the project. Since user fluctuation does not usually coincide with project durations, you as a master user can create new accounts within your project quota at any time and should delete accounts that are no longer required. There are two ways to delete accounts:

  • Manual deletion of accounts is done by changing the status of the account to the value "gelöscht" (status "deleted"). For details, please refer to the following entry: How to delete an account (status "gelöscht")?
  • Alternatively, when modify an account, you can set an expiration date . The account will then be locked (status "gesperrt) at this date, and will be deleted 3 monts later.
  • You can set an expiration date for individual LRZ services as well.  The corresponding service permission will be withdrawn automatically at this date

The second variant simplifies the administration of accounts, especially if you want to give a user an account or certain permissions only temporarily, e.g. for a few weeks, without having to explicitly take care of deleting the account or permission after this period has expired.

Please note that the expiration date you enter must be before the project expiration date; otherwise your entry will not be accepted. It is therefore not possible to keep accounts beyond the end of the project.

Note: Master users from projects for the LRZ supercomputer (SuperMUC-NG) generally cannot set an expiration date.
