Warum sind die Kennungen nur bis zum Jahresende gültig?
The following explanations only apply to accounts that are assigned by master users within LRZ projects. Accounts that are assigned by other institutions and imported to the LRZ are valid until they are deleted at the respective institution.
Accounts that are assigned within LRZ projects are only valid until the end of the year because they are linked to the duration of the respective project and projects, in turn, are only valid until the end of the year and must be extended annually if necessary (see How does the annual project extension work?). This is to ensure that projects that are no longer needed (incl. the accounts they contain) are deleted and that the data stored at the LRZ (such as the head of the institution) is kept up to date for projects that continue.
When a project is extended, the validity of those accounts whose expiry date coincides with the project expiration date is also automatically extended. Only accounts for which you have explicitly set an early expiry date are excluded from the automatic extension. Normally, you do not have to worry about extending the validity of accounts.
Please note: Setting an early expiration date for an account means that this account with all its permissions and data will automatically be completely deleted on this date.
