Wann muss ich eine LMU-Kennung in mein LRZ-Projekt importieren?

It is not necessary to import an LMU account into a project if the permissions that the account has already received automatically from LMU are sufficient, such as:

  • Exchange (for the @lmu.de e-mail address)
  • VPN and WLAN/eduroam
  • CampusLMU-Mail
  • MWN-ADS
  • Personal Cloud Storage
  • Institutional Cloud Storage
  • LRZ Sync+Share
  • GitLab

Only for permission for further LRZ services or for special configuratons, the import of the LMU account into an LRZ project is necessary. These are e.g.

  • Organisation/faculty e-mail address such as @econ.lmu.de in addition to @lmu.de on Exchange
  • Standard mail ((Warnung) The default mail system for LMU Exchange für lmu.de)
  • Back-up and archiving
  • Institutions' VPN and firewall
  • LRZ Compute Cloud

For some LRZ service, the assignment of an account to a project is not relevant. There, access permissions are regulated via technical groups (Gruppen verwalten). These are among others:

  • LRZ-vSphere (vmware)
  • DSS Data Science Storage
  • HPDA High Performance Data Architecture

For the HPC platforms, LMU accounts are generally unsuitable or not possible and should therefore not be imported into LRZ projects:

  • Linux-Cluster
  • SuperMUC-NG
