ISP/TSM Server Upgrade auf Version 8

In February 2019, the archive and backup servers will be migrated to a new IBM Spectrum Protect (ISP, formerly TSM) version. (The exact date is not yet fixed and will be announced in due time).

After the changeover, ISP/TSM clients with an outdated version number <7 can no longer communicate with updated servers. This means that backups, archives and restores will no longer work with the old TSM clients.

For this reason all users who are still running TSM clients with an outdated version have to upgrade their TSM client as soon as possible.

You can find the latest client versions on our download page.

You can get an overview of the nodes you manage with the respective client version in DATWeb via the menu item "Details" .

If you find nodes that are no longer needed, please inform us via the Servicedesk that you no longer need the node and its data and that we should delete them. (Attention: Deleted data is irrevocably gone!).

For nodes that contain data that was stored a long time ago and for which there is no longer any hardware, there is currently nothing to be done.

If you want to access this data again, install an up-to-date client on a new computer that matches the operating system with which the data was saved. If the data was saved with a Linux client, you should under no circumstances access the data with a Windows client, because there is a risk of data loss! (see also Best Practice Guide chapter 10.2).

For active nodes, please proceed as follows:

  1. Check which client version is in use on your nodes.
You can find this out by calling the client or by logging into DATWeb with the administrator ID of your nodes (see monthly mail) and then clicking on the menu item "Details".
  2. If you are running a version < 7 (it will be displayed in red), be sure to update the client.
You can find the latest client versions on our download page.
