Password expired:
You can change an expired (lapsed) password in the IDM portal.
Forgotten password:
If you have forgotten your password, there are two options:
- On the IDM Portal home page, you will find a Reset Password link.
- If that doesn't work, your master user can set you a new start password, which you then have to change again in the IDM portal to a password known only to you. (See How do I find my Master User? for more information).
If you study at one of the following universities, your account is managed by the university; however, you still can change the password in the IDM portal:
- Academy of Fine Arts Munich
- University of Music and Theatre Munich
- University of Television and Film Munich
Exceptions (passwords cannot be changed at the LRZ):
For accounts that are administered at the TUM, LMU or one of the following other universities and transferred to the LRZ, the password change and password replacement is done directly in the portal or at the helpdesk of these institutions

Some LRZ services like Sync+Share, Confluence or GitLab partly offer the possibility to reset the password in their interfaces. However, this is not the right place to change the password for the LRZ account and ends with an error message. Always use the IDM portal or the portal of your university.
