  • MySQL-Database for your website

As a customer to our serviced web hosting service, you have the option to receive a MySQL database for use with your website.

The database is meant to be used in conjunction with a site in our serviced web hosting. Access is limited to the webserver, our phpMyAdmin site, and the access servers. If you need a database for other purposes you will have to set it up yourself. Please refer to the information for the managed server service on how to do this.

  • PHP in der Webhosting-Umgebung
PHP and an optional MySQL database are available in the LRZ web hosting environment.  This enables the operation of many web applications. This pages explains technical background and provides tipps for working with specific versions.
  • Data backup for your website

    Overview

Within the LRZ web hosting service, your website data is regularly backed up. Data backups serve to reduce the risk of data loss that might occur in the case of a technical malfunction on our side or if you accidentally deleted important data yourself.

On the filesystem level, you have access to so-called snapshots. Snapshots contain previous versions of your website data. You can use these snapshots to restore files yourself (i.e. without the help of an LRZ admin). Your data is also backed up on magnetic tapes (TSM backup) from where it can be restored in the event of a greater technical malfunction. If you are also using a database along with your LRZ website, this database is also backed up on magnetic tapes.

  • Sending e-mail from your site

Sending e-mails from your site is generally possible. There are – however – a few things to consider, namely correct sender addresses and mail quotas.

What you need to observe in any case: correct sender addresses
