CoolWP: Desktop Apps

The CoolMUC Web Portal currentlu offers Remote Desktop as a solution for accessing desktop applications. This option provides a comprehensive environment for utilizing a wide range of tools via a graphical user interface (GUI). We offer two options: CoolWP: Remote Desktop Login and CoolWP: Remote Desktop Container. Here are the key distinctions between the two options:

  1. CoolWP: Remote Desktop Login: 
    • This option initiates a VNC session within a SLURM job on the login node. 
  2. CoolWP: Remote Desktop Container: 
    • This option launches a VNC session within a container running in a SLURM job on a compute node, allowing you to run even the most resource-demanding graphical applications.
    • We provide a selection of predefined containers with commonly used graphical applications.
    • You also have the option to define and deploy custom containers with your own graphical applications.
