Introduction to ANSYS CFD (CFX, Fluent)

Content

This course with about 20 lectures and 10 practical exercises is targeted at master-level students, PhD's and young scientists with some decent background in fluid mechanics and numerical methods of fluid mechanics, but with little to no knowledge of the ANSYS CFD simulation tools ANSYS CFX and ANSYS Fluent. I.e. the course is aimed in learning to carry out CFD simulations with the use of ANSYS CFD programs and in learning to efficiently use HPC resources at LRZ Linux Clusters at the same time.

In this online course format the course is carried out with presented lectures and introductory lessons to practical exercises on every Monday, starting on 12. October 2020 and finishing on 14. December 2020. Course lectures will take place on Mondays at 10:00-12:00am and 2:00-4:00pm. Registered participants will be timely informed about the video conference information for the online course class room.

Participants to the course are being provided with an own user account on the LRZ Linux Cluster CoolMUC-2 (CM2) for the time of the online course. Practical exercises in ANSYS CFX and ANSYS Fluent are then partially carried out on particpants own computers by using local ANSYS 2020.R1 installations and partially by carrying out HPC simulations on the CoolMUC-2 cluster using ANSYS licenses being provided by LRZ.
