On July 21 and 22, 2021, the control facilities for the cooling infrastructure of the SuperMUC-NG system will be tested and reviewed. This must be done while the system is fully loaded. There is, unfortunately, a risk of failure, in which case a system shutdown and reboot may be required. We will keep you updated via https://www.lrz.de/aktuell/ali00913.html in case the risk materializes. |
The new ANSYS Release 2021.R2 has been installed and rolled out on SuperMUC-NG. The modules for ANSYS Release 2021.R2 have been set as the default version. |
The system maintenance including update of the OS to SLES 15 is concluded. Most of the software stack is working as expected, exept for a few known issues. Please check this link "Open issues after the SuperMUC-NG Upgrade to SLES15 (24.06.2021)" first to see whether we are already working on a problem you are observing. |
CoolMUC-3 maintenance on August 9 and 10,2021.
Due to a scheduled OS upgrade, CoolMUC-3 and some associated housed cluster segments will be unavailable for user operation starting on August 09 at 8:00 am.
The interruption is expected to take until the afternoon of August 10. The login nodes lxlogin8 and lxlogin9 as well as the following SLURM queues are impacted by this interruption:
- Queues for all users: inter::mpp3_inter, mpp3
- Housing queues: htfd, httf, htus,kcs,kcs_nim,tum_aer::tum_aer_huge
The new ANSYS Release 2021.R2 has been installed and rolled out on all Linux Cluster systems and RVS. The modules for ANSYS Release 2021.R2 have been set as the default version.
Due to the very limited use of MSC products or MSC Licenses on High-Performance Systems at LRZ, the MSC software support including installations and license server will be taken off by September 2021. Please do write us a ticket if you want to communicate on this matter with a subject MSC via https://servicedesk.lrz.de/.

On Monday, April 4, 2022, a new version of the spack-based development and application software stack will be rolled out. The new spack version will be loaded as default starting April 11, 2022 After that date, you will be still able to switch to the previous spack stack with > module switch spack spack/21.1.1 We strongly recommend recompiling self-built applications after the roll-out. Base core frequency of jobs has been set to 2.3GHz. Higher frequencies possible using EAR. |

There are 4 "new" Remote Visualization (RVS_2021) nodes available. The machines are in production mode. Nodes are operated under Ubuntu OS and NoMachine. Usage is limited to 2 hours and if you need a longer period of time, please file an LRZ Service Request. For more details please refer to the documentation. |

We have observed and addressed an issue with the LRZ AI Systems that concerned some running user jobs. As of now, newly started jobs should not be affected anymore. The work on the LRZ AI Systems to address the recently observed stability issues has been concluded. All users are invited to continue their work. We closely monitor system operation and will provide additional updates if needed. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We have identified the likely root cause for the ongoing issues with the LRZ AI and MCML Systems following the latest maintenance downtime. We continue work towards a timely resolution and can currently not guarantee uninterrupted & stable system availability. For further details, please see LRZ AI Systems The LRZ AI and MCML Systems did undergo a maintenance procedure from April 25th to April 27th (both inclusive.) During this period, the system was not available to users. Normal user operation did resume on 2022-04-27 16:30. |
