DSS Release 2.2

General availability: 2021-10-26

Overview

This is mainly a "behind the scenes" update. As the first DSS hardware deployed at LRZ nears its end of life, we needed to add functionality to be able migrate existing containers from one DSS file system/DSS Pool to another. Because of several technical restrictions, we are still working on to finally get out of our way, this is not yet available as self-service function but the migration process is still driven by us. However, we are pretty confident that for the next big system migration we can offer this functionality as a self-service function that allow you to drive the migration process at your own pace.

New Features

DSSWeb Self Service Portal

  • Data Curators
    • One data curator per project can be nominated as primary via the CLI or API. The system will always pick the primary data curator to transfer ownership of files from deleted/uninvited users to.
  • Storage Pool Quotas
    • For Pool Owners that manage their own DSS Storage System, we now included information about department and subdepartment for each project a quota is assigned to in the GUI.
