In general, only those OSes and OS versions are supported that are still receiving support by the manufacturer.

The support periods are linked in that table.

Further Linux distributions and other Unix distributions (like, e.g., Solaris or BSD) function as well, as long as they support SMB3 with encryption (Linux Kernel >= 4.11).

LRZ though can only give support for the listed OS versions.

Newer OSes are supported at the earliest 6 months after official release by the manufacturer.
