1.2 Usage Policies

Regulations, Terms and Conditions

Users of the AI Systems need to adhere to the following regulations, terms and conditions:

  1. General usage regulations (nonbinding translation) / Benutzungsrichtlinien.
  2. Users of the AI Systems are responsible for complying with all requirements of the EU AI Act. For the end user organisation, the AVB-IT and, where applicable, the relevant service conditions apply: https://collab.dvb.bayern/x/8TGTHg
  3. Access to the AI Systems is subject to export control regulations.
  4. LRZ stores and publishes your project data and description electronically. This requirement can be waived upon explicit request.
  5. A report on the work conducted and results obtained by the use of the AI Systems must be provided upon LRZ request.
  6. The use of LRZ infrastructure for the processing of data, according to Art. 9 GDPR (DSGVO) "Processing of special categories of personal data", is generally not permitted. However, exceptions are possible if a special agreement is concluded by the acting parties, potentially in addition to existing data processing agreements ("Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag", AVV), and on the other hand, the installation and operation of a specially secured infrastructure is usually required.

In this case, please contact the LRZ via a service request (https://servicedesk.lrz.de/en) addressing the type of data you intend to process and requesting such a special agreement.

Usage Guidelines

Guidelines for Development and Testing

Please note that LRZ AI Systems provide limited computational resources and are not primarily intended for development, prototyping, or debugging. Programs and scripts used for production jobs should be tested on other systems beforehand whenever possible.

If you choose to perform development or testing on the AI Systems, keep your resource usage to the minimum necessary. Preferably by using https://login.ai.lrz.de (restricted to single GPUs/MIG devices; see section 6. Interactive Apps) or by requesting appropriately sized interactive allocations (see section 5.1 Slurm Interactive Jobs). In general, minimize idle time and avoid inefficiencies to ensure fair resource availability for all users.

Login Node Session Limits

User processes and remote sessions on login nodes are limited to a maximum runtime of 30 days. Sessions and processes exceeding this limit will be terminated without prior notice.
